The 159th Guards Aviation Regiment was originally formed shortly after LOMAC 1.0 release and took on the role of a ship borne aviation fighter regiment flying operations from the Admiral Kuznetsov carrier. We have been growing and evolving ever since.
Fighter Wing

The 159th utilizes both DCS Frogfoot variants Su-25/Su-25T in our Strike Wing(SW). Strike Wing's mission is to provide a precision attack capability, by both day & night, and SEAD support to 159th operations with the Su-25T. The Su-25 mainly tackles the CAS role.

SW is supported by (or vice versa depending on your point of view!) by Fighter Wing(FW). Fighter Wing continues to operate the Su-33 Flanker along side the Su-27 Flanker and MiG-21. Fighter Wing is tasked to provide CAP top cover & force protection to attached assets during 159th operations and to maintain an Anti Ship capability and its Aircraft Carrier Operations currencies.

All Wings fly from our main operating base at Sochi-Adler airfield which also houses our attached A-50 AWACS & IL-76M tankers as well as any visiting aircraft.

With the release of Black Shark, the 159th has once again evolved and now includes helicopter operations into it's regular activities with the formation of the Attack Wing (AW). The squad has adopted the Mi-8 and is currently adapting to use the Hip in its regular squad flights including utilizing cargo and troop drop operations.

When not being used for private squad activities, we run a dedicated server for public use and also provide a Team Speak server, which again is available for public use outside of squad activities. We currently run DCS World on the server, and will be transiting to DCS World 2.0 upon release.

The 159th prides itself on having a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with a good sense of humour. The banter can be merciless at times but we have a good laugh at ourselves. This relaxed attitude is backed up by the desire to fly in a professional manner whilst keeping the sense of fun. This is after all a hobby/game/sim!

We ask that our pilots have an understanding of the aircraft the Regiment uses, although we all have a learning curve and we are always happy to help each other progress. None of us are experts after all.

Although the 159th is UK based we do have members in Europe, Canada and the USA. Our minimum age for application is 18.
