« on: September 29, 2018, 09:42:55 AM »
Just in case you weren’t aware, you can DL the F18 and Gulf map to try for free this weekend.

Hoping to have a little look this evening if I get some time.

Had a joy ride around the map in the F-18 - mixed feelings...

The map is nice, but, there a lot of nothingness and pockets of built-up areas and mountains.
I like the mountain areas and the coastal areas look good. I also like that there are plenty of islands.
Just not sure its worth the money.

Liked the F-18 - easy to fly, has its own character which is cool.
Again, not likely to buy it having just bought the AV-8.

Some pics:

And yes, the F-18 can fit through that arch  :D

Sounds like the map is similar in character to Nevada then? The problem for me is that they just don't 'feel' like war-zones some how as they seem to show all the glam sides of the area and not what we see on TV, although that is being unfair on the region, of course. The bland parts of the terrain-although real to life factually- just don't yet transfer well to PC sims? We're well versed with the middle-east from the repeated wars being propagated over there, and if anything, I'd rather see a 'desolate' and troubled looking map than one with fancy hotels etc (although I definately don't want the real-life area to look that way...).

Some good thoughts there yes. I think we’re very used to the lush greenery of the caucus region. I think you could come up with some top missions on this map though.

Not seen the Nevada map but I’d imagine it’s very similar.

I’d be happy to get the gulf map if we all in for it. It’ll make a nice change to the caucus area.
