Joysticks & Rudders

Gents,

Celebrating a new job with a new toy (Why not!).

Thinking of the Thrustmaster Warthog - do any of you guys have one and what are your thoughts?  Do you run it with a separate rudder system and if so what have you got?

Thanks :)

in approx 4-5 years of Warthog ownership:

The good;

- Good solid tactile feel and construction.
- Plethora of buttons, switches and hats.
- Precision is great but stick gimbals maybe become an issue after 12 -18 months of heavy use.
- The programmable software is very easy to use, although not necessary.

The bad;

- Cost, fcukin expensive.
- Gimbals, although they appear to be fantastic out of the box, they may develop 'stiction' issues down the line. In other words, they feel a little less smooth and slightly notchy over time. Not really as issue for everyday use, but if you are into precise formation flying, they may need a clean and a lube. There are many articles about this on the net.
- Gimbal springs are quite strong compared to other sticks and may take time to get use to. However, they feel just right to me and certainly nowhere near the levels of arm pumping Cougar it replaced.

Rudder Pedals - I've used CH for the last 10 years, same set and all they ever needed was a internal clean. They are quite narrow, which may put some users off.
