Start-up Icons
« on: December 03, 2017, 01:28:02 AM »
I wiped my hard drive and lost all the Icons for DCS. As the main program is installed on a separate HDD, I just made a shortcut of the run.exe icon and away I went. It works and DCS ( Open Alpha, Open Beta, and Stable ) opened up and ran.... but had a hitch. None of these programs would check for updates when ran. For months now I have been forcing updates, repairs and all that jazz.

Today, I found that instead of using run.exe as the shortcut, go into the "bin" folder and make a shortcut of the DCS_updater.exe to start. All 3 programs now check for updates before running as well as starting up the program.

Yup Scoot, there's loads of posts on ED forums ref forcing updates using the target paths and Command Line. There even some nifty tricks and commands that can be performed to do various things, depending upon the version of DCS that you want to tweak.
