Welcome to the new home of the 159th Guards Aviation Regiment Fighter Wing.
Making no mistakes is what establishes the certainty of victory.... (SunTzu)
The 159th GAR Fighter Wing (FW) was originally formed shortly after LOMAC 1.0 release and took on the role of a ship borne aviation fighter regiment flying operations from the Admiral Kuznetsov carrier.
The release of LO:FC brought about some major changes to the 159th, the biggest was the inclusion of the Su-25T which forms the basis of our Strike Wing. This caused Fighter Wing to adjust its operations to provide fighter support to any and all Strike Wing operations. This also caused Fighter Wing to relocate to our current home, Krymsk airbase. But, we ensure all pilots maintain their carrier operations certificate in case carrier-borne operations are required. Fighter Wing is currently broken up into several separate Flights, each having its own Flight leader, responsible for its day to day functioning. This is supplemented by the Fighter Wing CO and Fighter Wing XO overseeing all operational and logistical activity. The Fighter Wing XO also leads a combat Flight whilst the FW CO oversees the training flight, where new pilots find themselves upon joining the Regiment.

Fighter Wing regularly conducts operations both in support of Strike Wing and in its own right depending on the needs of the mission. We maintain an operational readiness to intercept, strike or patrol a very wide area to protect the motherlands territory from any all aggressors.

FW is well versed in multi-role operations, we ensure operational readiness for all air to air scenarios as well as anti-ship strike and air to ground. However our primary role is to escort, assist and defend our Strike Wing brothers. It has been noted on many an occasion that Fighter Wing pilots have deliberately put themselves in harms way in order to protect our brothers in arms, to the extent of deliberately flying into enemy fire and sacrificing himself so that a Strike aircraft can escape.
The members of the 159th Fighter Wing vary greatly in age, experience and areas of speciality. So we endeavour to allow our pilots to tailor their flying to their preferred activity. Of course there is a chain of command in order for the sqn as a whole to operate coherently and we do require all members to respect this chain. Having said that you will find that the Fighter Wing is a very relaxed place to be, we enjoy a great sense of camaraderie and we can usually be found in the Sukhoi Arms drinking YPV.

But when the call goes out to scramble its business time. Flight gear on, helmets on, get to your aircraft and its time to go to work. We fly serious yes, but not to the exclusion of fun.

Recruitment for the 159th Fighter Wing is usually an ongoing process so please check in on our forum to ask about availability of Fighter Wing positions. You MUST be 18 years of age or older to be considered for entry into the 159th.
If you feel you can make the commitment to the sqn, much the same as you would any other hobby then please come and say hello in our forums.
A check flight with the FW CO or XO will be required as well. But don't worry, its very simple. All we ask you to do before hand is be capable of taking off, landing and navigating using the HUD and MFD in a safe manner. The primary focus is flying safely, so don't worry if you're a little wobbly. Keep yourself safe and those around you and all will be fine.

We are all around to help answer any questions you may have and offer guidance.
